If you’re a fan of the series, you’re likely familiar with its graphic scenes, but how do you feel about those iconic moments being portrayed by little ones? The internet is buzzing with mixed reactions.

A whopping 24 kids participated in this unique photo shoot! It’s no surprise—Walking Dead aficionados are passionate. While some parents opt for cute fruit basket babies, others dream of their little ones embodying the undead. To each their own!

The response on Instagram has largely been positive, but the Facebook comments tell a different story.

“The pivotal Carol/Lizzy flower scene Note: no children were harmed in the making of this, they were just playing pretend and acting with toy guns lol,” the photographer clarifies in the caption. “Also, Carol is MY daughter and Lizzy is a friend’s daughter, both of whom were fully aware they were just acting and know about gun safety.” Yet, despite her reassurances, the trolls were out in full force.

One commenter cautions, “This is absolutely horrible, imagine a child reenacting this after finding Daddy’s gun. What were you thinking?” Well, perhaps leaving a loaded gun within reach is a bit worse than a child pretending to be a character from a TV show. Another comment reads, “This is absolutely disgusting and makes me sick.”

However, there are defenders of the shoot, too. One grandmother enthusiastically wrote, “I love your pictures! You should share them with some Walking Dead groups; I bet you’ll get tons of requests.” She reminisced about how she became a fan after taking her grandkids on a hunt for the show’s production team.

Much of the backlash seems to stem from fans concerned that the images could spoil a major cliffhanger in the series. Ironically humorous, right?

While these images may not be everyone’s cup of tea, the outrage might be a bit overblown considering that each Halloween kids dress up as gory vampires and roam the streets without incident. Yes, they might be unsettling, but hey, it’s social media—just scroll past if you don’t like it!
