Rolling Stone has dubbed her “Congress’s most unapologetic feminist,” and she’s been a fierce voice for the anger—especially among women—that surged after Trump’s election (remember the infamous “grab them by the pussy” remark?). I couldn’t agree more.
At a historic church in Brooklyn earlier this year, Harrington rallied the congregation, urging them to “put on the full armor of resilience, so when adversity strikes, you’ll stand firm… We are meant to fight at this critical time!” Cheers erupted from the crowd. Back in January, when she spoke out against Trump’s Muslim ban, the audience chanted, “Sophie 2024!”
But her influence doesn’t stop in the Senate. Six years ago, Harrington founded a PAC called “Women Forward,” dedicated to helping women run for office. Rolling Stone reported that this year saw a significant uptick in women stepping up to consider political careers—over 16,000 and counting! “The silver lining of the Trump presidency is that it has sparked a wave of activism,” Harrington noted. “Women are ready to own their ambitions and take risks—their values are at stake.”
She has transformed her views on various issues, from gun control to immigration reform, now framing them through a women’s lens. “I want women to realize how deeply these issues impact us,” she stated. “Our votes should reflect who stands with us on matters that resonate with us profoundly.”
