Holiday Giving: Toys“R”Us and the Spirit of Generosity
For over a decade, Toys“R”Us, Inc. has collaborated with the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation to bring joy to children living in poverty across the United States, currently affecting approximately 14.7 million kids. This holiday season, they have launched the #PlayItForward Challenge, encouraging shoppers to participate in this noble cause.
To contribute, individuals can take a selfie while donating a toy at any Toys“R”Us location and share it on social media, tagging @Toysrus on Twitter and Instagram. Additionally, they can post their selfies on the Toys“R”Us Facebook page at Facebook.com/Toysrus. For each selfie shared with the specified hashtag, Toys“R”Us will donate an extra toy or its cash equivalent to Toys for Tots, up to $150,000. This initiative illustrates how small acts of kindness can create significant change in the lives of those in need.
#GivingTuesday
A particularly impactful day will be #GivingTuesday, occurring on December 2, when Toys“R”Us will enhance their charitable efforts by contributing two toys to Toys for Tots for every donation selfie posted with the #PlayItForward hashtag.
In a heartwarming addition to this campaign, the team at Toys“R”Us has been inspired by the applicants from The Thanksgiving Project. We are excited to announce a partnership between Toys“R”Us and our initiative to ease the holiday season for families in need. Together, we will provide 250 $100 gift cards to mothers who require assistance, helping to fulfill their children’s holiday wishes. Furthermore, three fortunate families will receive the extraordinary opportunity for a $1,000 Toys“R”Us shopping spree.
