Curious George and the Child with a Vivid Imagination
Four-year-old Mia adored Curious George. She cherished his books, television shows, and even her plush monkey version of him. So, when her mom and grandma announced a trip to New York City, Mia was convinced they would run into George. After all, he lived in the bustling city, right? Concerned about her potential disappointment, the adults pondered how to address her expectations. Eventually, they decided to tell her that George was likely on vacation, just like many others during Labor Day weekend. Undeterred, Mia remained excited about the possibility of meeting her beloved monkey.
As a creative solution, they all sat down to pen a letter to George: “I’m going to be in your city. Can I see you?” They helped Mia address the envelope to Curious George, c/o The Man in the Yellow Hat, Central Park West, NY, New York. Mia thought it was a fantastic idea.
Once they arrived at the hotel in New York, Mia eagerly waited by the window. The next morning, a small gift bag with her name on it appeared outside their door. Attached was a card from George, explaining that he was away but wished her a wonderful visit and sent her a few gifts. “George is so nice!” Mia exclaimed, bringing the bag inside. Her mom and grandma let out a sigh of relief.
With everyone content, they set off to explore the city. They enjoyed a carriage ride through Central Park and waited to board a tour bus through Manhattan. Mia was thrilled, knowing George had been on a tour bus too. When they got on, she positioned herself right next to the driver, scanning the surroundings. Just then, her curiosity got the better of her, and she leaned over to the driver and asked, “Do you know Curious George?”
