Moms, You Deserve the New Elsa Makeup Palette…for Yourself!

Last week, Disney dropped a new beauty line inspired by Frozen: the “Snow and Ice” cosmetics collection, featuring Elsa’s stunning blue eyes and rosy lips right on the packaging. As a mom who donned an Elsa costume for Halloween to entertain my little ones, I must say, that icy queen has some serious digital makeup magic. I found a tutorial on Pinterest to recreate her look, and it turned out fantastic! Friends who spotted me while chasing after my sugar-loaded kids were impressed, saying, “Your makeup looks amazing!”
Curious about the hype, I headed to Walgreens, where I found the products showcased in the regular women’s cosmetics aisle, not in a kids’ section filled with dolls and cheap trinkets. I picked up the e.l.f. Snow and Ice Beauty Book, the Glow Eyeshadow set, the Icicle Face Palette, Icing Eyeshadow & Eyeliner, and a Super Glossy Lip Shine in Kiss Pink. Oh, and of course, I couldn’t resist a sparkly headband for myself! All of that came to about $34, which is a steal for 18 eyeshadow shades, 2 eyeliners, a bronzer, a blush, 2 highlighters, 2 lip glosses, and an eyeshadow brush. Pretty good deal, huh?
When I checked out, the cashier, who looked to be in her late twenties, practically squealed over my haul. “I used to have the Princess Jasmine collection, and I bought all of it! The colors are gorgeous, and it’s such a good price! You’re going to love this!” I had no idea Disney was catering to adults with makeup, but here we were. She assumed I was treating myself, and honestly, I wasn’t about to correct her.
Once home, I decided to dive into the Beauty Book, which some might say could lead our daughters astray. Following the step-by-step instructions for the “Elsa the Princess” look, I found the shadows easy to apply, even for someone like me who usually skips eyeliner. After a dab of mascara, I transformed into Princess Elsa-Kim!
A few wipes of makeup remover later, I was ready to try the other products. Midway through applying the gel shadow with a hint of sparkle, it hit me: there was no way I’d toss this makeup into my kid’s dress-up box. This isn’t the usual gaudy, bubblegum-scented play makeup. This collection is genuinely for grown-ups, and it deserves a spot in my personal stash.
A quick search on YouTube revealed a ton of tutorials, proving that this collection is meant for women like us. Sorry kiddos, but this time, the good stuff is just for Mom! Now I’m on the lookout for the best hiding spot so my daughter doesn’t discover how much fun my makeup drawer has become. Sure, I should probably share, but seriously, let it go? I don’t think so!
