Confessions of a Goldfish Snack Addict

I really need to stop snacking on my kids’ Goldfish crackers. I can’t help but dive into a half-empty bag, only to regret it almost instantly. It’s the same story every single night.

Dinner is chaotic, and I barely manage to eat anything substantial. Between my kids’ endless requests, my plate becomes more about leftovers and scraps than a proper meal. Plus, I’m on a mission to shed some “baby weight” – but let’s be real, my youngest is nearly 4 years old now!

So there I am, feeling ravenous after dinner. My stomach growls through bath time and storytime, and as soon as I plop down on the couch, those cheesy crackers start calling my name. It’s almost poetic how they lure me from the pantry, glowing softly in the dim light of the living room. The house is blissfully quiet, save for my thoughts of Goldfish.

I rush to the pantry, and there they are, those little orange devils, staring at me with their cute little eyes. They practically beg to be devoured. My love affair with Goldfish began in childhood when they were just simple cheesy snacks, not the crazy rainbow or dessert-flavored varieties we have now – there are, like, 15 options! As I reach for the classic cheddar, I tell myself it’ll just be a few handfuls.

But we all know how this goes. Before I know it, I’m diving into the bag, fisting the crackers like a pro. When I’m done, I gotta wipe the salt off my lips feeling like a total snack addict. The guilt hits hard. I’ve surrendered to empty calories, and I can already feel the dreaded puffiness creeping in.

I wake up the next day, determined to eat only fruits and veggies. But come sunset, guess what? I’m back at it again with the Goldfish. Just a few handfuls this time, I swear. And maybe a Flintstone push pop too, because why not?
