6 Dress-Up Days Even This Mom Can Support

Hey there, fellow moms! Can we agree that we’ve had enough of these themed dress-up days? Seriously, we barely survived the 100th day of school celebrations in January and somehow managed to pull together some random Dr. Seuss ensemble for his birthday. But now that the school year is wrapping up, I think we need to declare a moratorium on these so-called “fun” dress-up days. No more “Cowboy Day,” “Time Traveler Day,” “Hawaiian Shirt Day,” or even “Pajama Day”—my brain just can’t handle it right now!

Instead, here are a few themed dress days I could actually get behind that reflect our current chaos:

  1. Wear What You Slept In Day
Let’s be real—this isn’t your typical Pajama Day. Kids would roll into class in whatever they wore to bed, which for mine might mean just their underwear, an oversized shirt from a college party, or some hilariously mismatched Christmas PJs.
  2. Breakfast in the Car Day
Picture it: cream cheese smeared all over their cheeks, jelly-covered fingers, and smoothies all over their teeth. Or, you know, just digging through last night’s leftovers to see if they can find something edible. Good luck with that!
  3. None of My Clothes Fit But It’s Almost Summer Day
With summer weather suddenly here, it’s time to pull out the shorts! Who cares if last fall’s clothes are two sizes too small? It’s 80 degrees! Just make it work.
  4. Mom’s on Laundry Strike Day
Searching for clean clothes becomes a scavenger hunt! Anything that looks remotely clean is fair game, whether it’s from a pile on the bed or hiding in the dryer. Just grab whatever you can find, kids!
  5. I Call This Look the “Bob Marley” Day
Forget about combing hair! Mornings are too rushed with homework chaos and signing reading logs. Embrace the messy look!
  6. Just Wear Your Own Clothes Day
This is the day when kids actually look decent and somewhat clean as they head off to school—only to realize that you completely forgot it was a themed dress day.
