Oh, Seriously? The New Minion Toy from McDonald’s Isn’t Saying ‘That’ Word
Here we go again—another day, another parent freaking out over a toy that sounds like it’s swearing. Come on, folks, this McDonald’s Minion toy is definitely not saying “that” word. Are you kidding me?
To promote the latest Minions movie, McDonald’s has included little Minion figures in their Happy Meals. Some parents are convinced the toy is uttering “What the heck” (but let’s be real, we know what they really think it’s saying). Clearly, these parents don’t understand Minionese, which is just a mix of silly gibberish, some fart noises, and the word “banana” thrown in for good measure. It does not say “that” word at all!
Check out this YouTube video showing the toy in action:
And here’s a local news clip interviewing one of the “outraged” parents. Seriously? This dad wants McDonald’s to stop giving out these toys because of what he thinks is an inappropriate sound. So, he wants to toss out thousands of plastic toys that won’t decompose for ages just because of a sound that’s barely audible? And he couldn’t even bother to put on a shirt for his news appearance! Yeah, I think I’ll take his outrage with a grain of salt.
A McDonald’s spokesperson had this to say: “Minions communicate in ‘Minionese,’ which is a random jumble of various languages and nonsensical sounds. It has no translation or meaning in any recognized language. Any perceived similarities to words in English are purely coincidental.” Translation: this toy isn’t saying “that” word, people!
The sound coming from this toy isn’t even a word—just random noises that some parents are mistakenly interpreting. Let’s be honest, if your little one thinks the Minion is swearing, they probably already know the word anyway. And if your three-year-old is familiar with “that” word, well, you might want to rethink your parenting strategy a bit.
