Vasectomy Time!

Hey there! Let’s talk about the ever-equal game of parenthood. In my opinion, both moms and dads should share the load equally—whether it’s changing diapers or navigating “The Talk.” When it comes to raising kids, it truly should be a team effort!

But let’s be real, when it comes to creating and carrying babies, moms do tend to bear the bulk of the burden. Here’s a quick peek at what I’ve been through to either make or prevent babies:

  • Three C-sections
  • A surgically repaired uterine septum
  • Managing PCOS
  • On-and-off birth control pills
  • Mirena IUD
  • Clomid treatments
  • Surviving preeclampsia
  • Injecting blood thinners into my pregnant belly

And what did my husband do? Well, he provided sperm and occasionally withheld it. Classic, right? It’s just how the cookie crumbles.

But now, I’m ready to flip the script. I’ve made an appointment to get my IUD out, and I’m planning for my husband to schedule a vasectomy. Yep, it’s his turn to step up because I’ve earned it!

Honestly, I’m done with the endless juggling of my reproductive health. No more sob hormones or rage cramps from the IUD. I’ve been through the wringer and come out the other side—my uterus is practically bionic (without the sound effects, of course). If it were a soldier, it’d be a battle-hardened veteran. Meanwhile, my husband’s vas deferens? They’re pristine and untouched. But not for long if I have my way!

I’m envisioning him chatting with a urologist while I prepare some frozen peas for post-op recovery. After all, I’ve endured three major surgeries to bring our kids into the world, and I’m done with any more surgical surprises.

This isn’t a dig at my husband—he didn’t choose to be without a uterus, and I don’t hold that against him. I just feel that after all I’ve been through, it’s time for some balance. I’ve heard plenty of stories from friends about the toll of hormone treatments and how things improved once they ditched the birth control. Some even found their sex drive returned (hello, va-voom!). Many are on the hunt for the right contraceptive that doesn’t mess with their health.

So, I’ve made up my mind! I want this vasectomy scheduled for this fall! And I promise my lady parts will be forever grateful.
