You Won’t Be Able to Forget These Risqué Disney Princess Pinups

Hey friends! So, you know how Disney princesses are beloved by so many kids? Well, it seems some artists decided to give them a rather… interesting makeover. Recently, a Los Angeles artist named Jake Thompson created some pin-up style illustrations of our favorite princesses that are definitely eye-catching, but they might leave you feeling a little uneasy.

For instance, take a look at this version of Snow White. She’s depicted in a way that just doesn’t sit right, especially since Dopey looks almost childlike in the image. And then there’s Anna and Elsa, who are shown with exaggerated features that seem more suited for a late-night cartoon than a children’s classic. Talk about cringeworthy!

Sleeping Beauty has taken on a whole new vibe, and let’s just say it’s not the romantic fairy tale we remember. And Rapunzel? Wow, she’s dangerously close to a wardrobe malfunction that you really don’t want to see. Tiana looks like she’s ready for more than just a kiss with her frog companion too.

Now, I get that artists like Thompson are trying to put a grown-up spin on these characters, but it’s hard to forget that these princesses are supposed to be young girls. It makes you rethink the original stories. Disney princesses already have a reputation for being overly sexualized, with their impossibly small waists and heavy makeup. Why take it further? Maybe there are other characters out there that would be better suited for this style?

These illustrations become even more unsettling when you consider the context around them. The prince in Sleeping Beauty, for instance, has a rather creepy grin that feels more predatory than charming, and I don’t think I can ever look at Rapunzel the same way again without imagining her in a totally inappropriate setting.

I don’t want to be too harsh, but these images clash with the innocence that Disney strives to embody for little girls. Sure, it’s art, and Thompson has undeniable talent, but this is a whole new realm that I’m just not ready to dive into.
