The “Target Troll” Takes on Homophobes Supporting Rainbow Doritos
The “Target Troll” is back at it again, this time taking on homophobes who are unhappy with Doritos for supporting a project aimed at preventing suicide among LGBTQ+ youth. Remember that guy, Jake Thompson? He was the one who hilariously trolled negative commenters on Target’s Facebook page after they decided to stop marketing toys based on gender. Well, he’s back and this time he’s calling out those who are upset about Doritos’ Rainbow Doritos initiative, which supports Dan Savage’s It Gets Better Project.
Supporting a Worthy Cause
Honestly, who wouldn’t want to support a cause that aims to reduce teen suicide rates? Dan Savage started this initiative back in 2010 after tragic news of students taking their own lives due to bullying. It’s a fantastic cause, and I’m tempted to grab a big bag of those Rainbow Doritos just to show my support.
Jake’s Epic Responses
Now, back to Jake — he’s hitting the trolls with some epic responses that are just too funny. I mean, who wouldn’t want to pay him for this kind of comedic relief? Is “professional troll” a real job? Because he definitely makes a strong case for it.
“My life matters! And I’ll prove it by not eating Doritos while wrapped in my confederate flag.” Genius! And how about this one: “Oh, my. What shape would ‘decency’ be?” Classic!
Countering Homophobia with Humor
We have to keep laughing to counterbalance the cringe of seeing folks proudly flaunting their homophobia while commenting on a post meant to support an anti-bullying campaign. It’s just disheartening. But thank goodness for people like Jake; he’s voicing what many companies wish they could say.
Support the Cause
Just a reminder, 100% of the proceeds from the sale of these chips go to the It Gets Better project, so consider donating and snagging your own bag! In Summary
In summary, our friend Jake is back, humorously tackling the trolls while supporting a great cause, and reminding us to stand up for what matters.
