Dear 40-Year-Old Me,
Let’s take a stroll down memory lane, shall we? Remember that time you donned a daring G-string bikini at the pool party? You may have felt a little shy, keeping your backside pressed against the wall, but you rocked it! Fast forward to now, and it seems my current swimsuit choice gives off the impression of an unfortunate mishap. So, earlier today, I braved the dreaded task of swimsuit shopping.
I had my heart set on a simple Speedo. With no clue about my size, I grabbed a few options and steeled myself for the dressing room—a place I often refer to as the “dressing room of doom.” My plan was simple: clothes off, suit on, and if it fit, I’d be out of there in a flash.
As I bent over to wiggle into the swimsuit bottom, I suddenly heard an incessant buzzing. Was there a butt patrol ready to raid my dressing room? I quickly yanked on the suit and looked around in a panic. Thankfully, it was just an Amber alert on my phone. After a few moments of confusion, I let out a sigh of relief. My jiggly buns hadn’t caused a heart attack after all!
I hurriedly got dressed, purchased the suit, and left the store. It might not be as sexy as that G-string you wore, but hey, I’m still putting on a swimsuit. If I could relive that pool party, I would strut my stuff proudly instead of hiding in the shadows.
Embrace Your Body
I want you to embrace your body. Sure, it will feel the pull of gravity over time, but remember all the incredible things it can do! It dances at weddings, paddleboards in Mexico, conquers beach quads, screams down thrilling waterslides, hikes mountains, serves as a cozy pillow, carries tired little ones, and spins in joyous laughter. Some days, it may drag out of bed, and other days, it won’t want to end.
I know it’s not perfect, but it’s uniquely yours, and it fits you just right. So let’s banish any doubts and celebrate what we have!
