‘Target Troll’ Returns, This Time as Doritos to Hilariously Take Down Homophobes
Sometimes, when faced with the harsh reality of ongoing homophobia and narrow-mindedness, the best response is to laugh at those who haven’t yet realized that everyone deserves equality and respect. The notorious “Target Troll” is back in action, this time taking aim at homophobes who are outraged at Doritos for supporting a campaign to prevent suicide among LGBT youth.
Do you remember Alex Miller? He famously trolled haters on the Target Facebook page back when the company announced it would stop marketing toys by gender. Well, he’s back! This time, he’s poking fun at the critics upset over Doritos’ release of Rainbow Doritos in support of Dan Savage’s It Gets Better project. Seriously, who doesn’t back a cause that seeks to end teen suicide? Savage launched the initiative in 2010 after several young people tragically took their lives due to bullying. It’s a commendable cause, and honestly, I’d grab a giant bag of Doritos right now just to support a company that’s backing it.
But let’s return to our troll friend. He’s up to his amusing antics again—someone ought to hire him for this! Is being a professional troll even a career? If it is, Miller makes a compelling case for its existence.
“My life matters! And to show how much it matters, I will no longer munch on Doritos while draped in my confederate flag.”
“Great idea! Doritos are clearly just another liberal agenda!”
“What shape does ‘decency’ even take?”
Oh my, yes, there’s a typo in there, but it’s too hilarious to ignore. Yikes!
I always seek out Doritos when I’m wandering the globe. Jesus would totally enjoy Doritos, right?
We have to chuckle to keep from crying. When you come across individuals so proud of their homophobia that they share comments like these next to their names and photos—especially while protesting a project aimed at reducing teen suicide, bullying, and harassment—it can be overwhelming. You just want to throw your hands up in despair.
Please, Alex Miller, keep it coming! You’re saying everything these companies wish they could express.
All proceeds from the sale of these chips go directly to the It Gets Better project. So why not donate and grab your own bag?
