Toddler Life Lessons: Wisdom from the Little Ones

Even though my little one has only been in this world for a year, she has already imparted some incredible insights. Here’s what she’s taught me:

  1. Celebrate your achievements. Give yourself a round of applause after every meal. Encourage others to join in too. You’re doing a fantastic job!
  2. Wave at everyone you meet! Wave at strangers, your reflection, or even that cute puppy in the park. Make everyone feel like a friend!
  3. Take a good look at your fingers. Seriously, they’re amazing! And don’t forget to check out your toes. Offer a nibble to the nearest person. They’ll appreciate it.
  4. When it comes to kissing, open your mouth wide. The more drool, the better!
  5. Dance whenever you hear music. It doesn’t matter where you are. If there’s no music, just make your own! They say to dance like no one’s watching, but it’s way more fun to dance until everyone is.
  6. Get pumped when you see a dog! Point and giggle; dogs are hilarious! Have you seen one today?!
  7. Smile big, even if your mouth is full or you have only a few teeth left.
  8. If you love a story, read it repeatedly! Again and again—until it’s stuck in your brain. And then, keep reading it because it’s just that good.
  9. If you don’t like the taste of something, spit it out! Life is too short to eat gross food.
  10. Surprise people with hugs. You never know when someone might need a little love.
  11. Redecorate like a pro! Those cushions belong on the floor, and that laundry? Definitely a floor feature.
  12. Life is all about games—especially peek-a-boo. I see you!
  13. You can choose your friends. You can also pick your nose. And yes, you can even pick your friend’s nose. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise!
  14. Embrace your body! Stick that belly out and wear that cute skirt. Own those thigh rolls!
  15. Even if someone pulls you away from the dog food bowl, crawl back to it when they’re not looking. Persistence is key!

So, the next time life throws lemons your way, consider tossing them to the ground instead. That’s what a toddler would suggest, and they often have the best advice. For more parenting tips, check out our other blog post on home insemination and learn how to navigate your own parenting journey.
