Bangkok is a vibrant city that welcomes you with open arms. Despite its notorious nightlife, it offers a little something for everyone, including amazing attractions for families. From cultural landmarks to delicious street food and expansive parks, you’ll find a range of activities suited for kids of all ages. I’ve lived here for about nine months and have enjoyed exploring the city with my little ones, including my 14-month-old and my picky 6 and 8-year-old nieces and nephew. Here are my top 10 recommendations for family fun in Bangkok, in no particular order.

  1. Art in Paradise 3D Museum
This interactive gallery is a two-story marvel and holds the title of the largest art illusion museum in the world. Located just outside the city, your kids can snap photos on a flying carpet, join in on an Emperor’s coronation, or even take a gondola ride in Italy—all while having a blast posing for pictures! Plan to spend a few hours here, as your cheeks will hurt from all the smiling.
  2. Bangkok Sea Life Ocean World
Right in the heart of the city, this impressive aquarium is a must-visit for little sea explorers. With over 30,000 marine creatures, it’s an underwater paradise that your child won’t want to leave. They can touch stingrays and sharks at the petting pond or even take a dive with the sharks—a thrilling experience for older kids. Don’t miss the penguin show, which is always a hit with toddlers. You can also check out Madame Tussauds nearby to score some savings!
  3. Safari World
Split into two main sections, Safari Park and Marine Park, this destination offers a drive-through experience filled with exotic animals. From tigers to giraffes, you’ll have a wildlife adventure that’s unforgettable. Just remember to stay in your vehicle as you explore!
  4. Theme-Based Restaurants
For a unique dining experience, check out Mr. Jones’ Orphanage Cake Shop, which features a whimsical design, a library for kids, and delicious sweet treats. Teddy House is another fun spot where pancakes and teddy bears create a magical atmosphere. Kids can also enjoy a build-a-bear workshop to create their furry friends.
  5. Lumpini Park
Located centrally amidst skyscrapers, Lumpini Park provides a refreshing escape from the urban hustle. Enjoy a family picnic or rent paddleboats—just keep an eye out for the park’s resident monitor lizards!
  6. KidZania
This edutainment center is ideal for kids aged 6 and above, where they can role-play various jobs and earn kidZos money. Watching them take on real-life professions while wearing fun costumes is simply adorable!
  7. Siam Park City
A full-fledged amusement park that promises a day of excitement for the whole family. With a massive water park and thrilling rides, there’s something for everyone. The Small World area is perfect for younger kids who may not be ready for the bigger attractions.
  8. Floating Market
Visit the Khlong Lat Mayom Floating Market for an authentic experience away from the crowded tourist spots. This local market offers delicious food served on traditional boats. Bring your appetite for mango sticky rice and affordable souvenirs that kids will love picking out.
  9. Temple Tour
No trip to Thailand is complete without seeing the Grand Palace and the Temple of the Reclining Buddha. These sites offer a beautiful glimpse into Thai history and architecture, making it worthwhile for slightly older kids, around 10-14 years old. Just remember that there’s a dress code—no shorts allowed!
  10. Asiatique The Riverfront
This open-air mall along the Chao Phraya River offers a delightful evening out. Don’t miss the enchanting Joe Louis Puppet Theatre for a blend of traditional and modern puppetry. With plenty of dining options and a ferris wheel to cap off the night, you’ll have a fantastic family outing.

As you continue to explore Bangkok, you’ll discover even more hidden gems. This list should keep your family entertained for a while!
