How I Plan to Raise My Children to Be Fearless
Lately, I’ve found myself reflecting deeply on the state of our world. As a mom of three little ones, I often feel overwhelmed by the news. I consider myself knowledgeable, yet there are days when I bury my head in the sand, trying to focus on my family’s immediate needs. However, when significant events unfold, I realize just how much I’ve missed and scramble to catch up. I’ve been reading about various crises, from the Syrian refugee situation to rising acts of violence, and it’s all so heavy.
When these topics come up, I often find myself at a loss for words. My heart goes out to the mothers and their children, as I can’t imagine the fear of traveling with my kids across an ocean or living in constant uncertainty. Each night, as I tuck my children into their cozy beds, I think of those who are not so fortunate. I reflect on how blessed I am to put food on our table, especially when my own challenges seem trivial in comparison.
I’m not here to take sides on divisive issues; I just don’t have the answers. The complexities of these problems are beyond my control, and I often feel helpless. People often ask, “What kind of world will our children grow up in?” The truth is, it’s always had its challenges. If you let fear take over, it can be paralyzing.
I refuse to let my children grow up in a bubble of fear. Instead, I want to cultivate bravery in them. I wish for my kids to embrace life wholeheartedly, to chase after their dreams even when it feels daunting. I want them to live passionately and with purpose because the future is unpredictable.
One of my greatest hopes is that they learn to love all people, not just those who share our beliefs or look like us. Love is a powerful force, and living fearlessly while standing up for what is right, even when it’s not popular, embodies true bravery. While I can’t control the world around us, I can instill in my children a fierce and fearless love for others. That, I believe, is the greatest strength of motherhood.

In summary, I’m committed to raising my children to be fearless, enthusiastic, and loving individuals, ready to face whatever the world throws at them.
