Attention Parents of Picky Eaters! Mac & Cheese Might Be Coming to Your Local McDonald’s!
Are you worn out from cooking and your kids are only interested in mac and cheese? If this sounds familiar, it’s time to head to McDonald’s! The fast-food chain is currently testing a mac and cheese option at 18 locations in the Cleveland, Ohio area. For just $1.75, you can grab a four-ounce serving, or if your little ones are begging for it, they can swap out their usual burger or chicken nuggets for mac and cheese in their Happy Meal. “We’re always exploring new ways to cater to our customers’ tastes, so we’re giving mac and cheese a shot and gathering feedback,” shares McDonald’s spokesperson, Jenna Parker.
Excitement is in the Air
Picture this: it’s 7 p.m., the kids are STARVING, and there’s nothing prepped for dinner. You’ve got a pantry that looks like it’s been raided by a raccoon, and even though they’re whining about their hunger, they turn their noses up at pizza or burgers yet again. Now, you can save the day with the classic comfort of mac and cheese, plus the added bonus of a plastic toy that will entertain them—if only for a moment.
The Good News and the Bad News
There’s a bit of good news and bad news about this potential menu addition. The good news? It’s MAC AND CHEESE! Who doesn’t love cheesy goodness on a chilly night? Plus, it’s a new way to tempt your kids into eating something different. The downside? Your little ones might argue that any mac and cheese not from that iconic blue box is a culinary disaster. Or perhaps the precious tub of cheese never makes it home because it spills all over your car, leaving you to search for the best ways to clean cheese stains out of upholstery. It’s definitely a gamble.
Trial Period and Future Prospects
This mac and cheese trial runs until February, after which the decision-makers will determine if this American classic will become a permanent menu item or meet the same fate as the McDLT. Until then, those of us not in Cleveland will have to wait with eager anticipation—and perhaps a few complaints from the kids.
