So, you’ve decided to enroll your child in a Montessori school? Here’s a glimpse into what you might encounter next, as shared in our “daily updates”:
Day One Adventures
What a wonderful first day for Mia! She seems really happy working independently. Mostly because she’s created a bubble that no one dares to enter, but hey, she’s enjoying herself!
Mia was quite the sleepyhead today! She struggled to nap during the rhythm circle, but we’re confident she’ll get the hang of it soon 🙂 Lunch included avocado, PB apple slices, and some ancient grains.
Expressing Herself
Mia is really starting to express herself! She’s definitely the most vocal child in the class, which would earn her the loudest award if we gave awards—which we don’t, due to some philosophical beliefs!
Thanks for sending in the extra clothes! Just a note, we prefer outfits without any words, patterns, or colors, so we’ve dressed her in a locally-sourced, organic cotton poncho. So chic! 🙂
Playground Fun
Mia had a blast on the playground today! She’s really building up her strength. Speaking of which, have you thought about putting in a climbing bar at home? Just grab some pristine pine wood and find 14 feet of wall space—it’s a breeze!
Birthday Celebrations
Happy 2nd birthday to Mia! Apologies for not returning the three dozen personalized cupcakes 🙁 But we trust you and the other kiddos understand that a special birthday stroll in the sunshine is truly the best treat of all! Lunch consisted of kale chips, kefir, and gluten-free crackers.
Mia had a wonderfully androgynous day! One of the substitutes even mistook her for a boy 🙂 Such a thrill to see her challenge gender norms!
Important Reminders
Just a reminder that we close early on Tuesday in celebration of the vernal equinox, so please pick up your little ones by 9:45 a.m.! Happy first quarter moon! 🙂 Lunch was oatmeal, fish sauce, and persimmon.
Mia is becoming so ambitious! She’s such a Capricorn, which makes it amusing that she’s a Virgo? Have you thought about having her astrological chart done? Our assistant guide is a certified astrologer, in case you’re interested!
Funny Moments
Funny story: Oliver used Mia’s diapers to build a fort today 🙂 Could you send more? For now, we’ve let her roam free in the backyard. Free-range kiddo!
Upcoming Events
Just a reminder about the upcoming Parent Ed Night tomorrow at 4 p.m.! We’re excited for a talk on “How to Say No Without Saying No” and other insightful topics. Don’t forget to check out next month’s discussions on child-led potty training and crafting tiny chairs!
Oh, and sorry about the rash mix-up! The full-body hives picture was meant for Jamie’s parents, obviously!
Incident Report
Did you see the incident report? Charlie took Mia’s shape sorter, so she retaliated with a baby mum-mum 🙁 Just a tiny scratch, but if you could sign the form and maybe hold off on any pointy snacks for a bit, that’d be great!
Volunteer Opportunities
Hello, Montessori Maple Class parents! Just a reminder that each family needs to complete 50 volunteer hours by the end of the week to avoid a $400 fee! We’re currently looking for a master carpenter to build custom reclaimed-wood bookshelves, a butterfly expert for an off-site expedition, and someone skilled in kombucha-making to help care for the classroom SCOBY. Also, if anyone can lead a traditional Japanese tea ceremony for lower school, please let us know!
Wild Day
What a wild day! The toddlers actually followed through on their mutiny threat and locked us all in the storage closet LOL!
Health Alert
Hey everyone! Just a heads-up: one of our little friends has been coming to school with “pink eye,” and it seems to be spreading! Not implying anything intentional, just a heads-up that we’ll be closed indefinitely for sanitizing and some sage smudging.
