Photographer Celebrates the Strength of Working Moms with Uniform Series
When you think of mothers, nurturing and caregiving often come to mind. But let’s not forget that they are also incredibly strong and capable. That’s exactly the mission of one Texas-based photographer, Lily Scott, who is highlighting the resilience of working moms in her latest photo series.
Lily, a military mom turned photographer, has set out to empower mothers by capturing them in their work uniforms while breastfeeding. This initiative, dubbed the “Uniformed Breastfeeding Portrait Collection,” recently gained attention when she shared a breathtaking image of a woman in a firefighter’s uniform nursing her baby. In her post, Lily mentioned that she had “dreamed of this photo for a long time” and clarified that the woman was actually wearing her husband’s gear. Nonetheless, her ultimate goal is to portray as many “moms in their actual career fields and uniforms” as possible, emphasizing that her project is about supporting all working mothers. “This portrait is meant to showcase the strength of a working mother,” she expressed. “It’s dedicated to all the moms in firefighting careers.”
Lily also engaged her audience by asking them to share the first word that popped into their minds when seeing the photo. The responses were powerful, with words like “brave,” “resilient,” and “beautiful” flooding in. One commenter beautifully summed it up: “Service. This woman risks her life for strangers while also caring for her family. It truly reflects a servant’s heart.”
This isn’t the first time Lily’s work has gone viral. Last year, she captured a photo of ten active military moms breastfeeding in uniform, which was shared over 24,000 times! The overwhelming response to that image fueled her mission to document as many moms in uniform as possible.
Lily tells us she plans to photograph a doctor, a nurse, and a police officer next, but she’s not limiting herself to specific professions. “Any mother in uniform is a candidate,” she said. “Today’s moms juggle careers and parenting, so I want to prove you can work full-time and still breastfeed your baby.” These portraits do just that.
What makes Lily’s images resonate so deeply is not just the act of breastfeeding in uniform but the broader representation of moms who can do it all. They embody strength and nurturing spirit, showing that there are no limits to what we can achieve as mothers and individuals. Women viewing these images will see themselves—driven, passionate, and wholly committed. These photos serve as a powerful reminder of the love and effort we pour into every aspect of our lives.

In summary, Lily Scott’s initiative to showcase working moms in their uniforms while breastfeeding powerfully illustrates the dual role of mothers as caregivers and professionals. Her work not only highlights the strength of women but also encourages moms to embrace their roles in both the workplace and home.
