Obama Administration Tells Public Schools: Enough with the Bathroom Drama
Outside Santee High School in Los Angeles, gender-neutral restroom signs have sparked quite a debate. Let’s just leave these children alone.
The letter from the administration states, “The desire to accommodate others’ discomfort cannot justify a policy that disadvantages a particular class of students.” It also clarifies that once a parent or guardian asserts a child’s gender identity, that child should be treated accordingly—without needing a medical diagnosis or birth certificate.
The National Association of Secondary School Principals expressed support for this directive. Anyone who champions justice and human rights stands behind this initiative. Of course, some lawmakers have criticized it as “heavy-handed” and called for less federal involvement in state matters. Well, tough luck!
