So when my daughter said, “I want to be you when I grow up, Mommy,” I bent down, looked her square in the eyes, kissed her nose, and pulled her close. Tears streamed down my face, and I could only think to respond, “Sweetheart, I want you to be you when you grow up. Never change. Just…stay…you.”
