Parents Stunned by the ‘Sports Car’ in Their Ultrasound
A couple took to Reddit recently to share their astonishment when their 24-week ultrasound revealed what looked like a cute little vehicle instead of the expected bundle of joy. Just when they thought the biggest surprise in their parenting journey was confirming a baby was on the way, they were met with an image that seemed to indicate they were giving birth to a SPORTS CAR!
As reported by Mashable, Reddit user MikeAndMary123 and his wife were anticipating the usual heartbeat and perhaps even one of those uncanny 3-D images of their developing baby. But instead, they were greeted by the bizarre sight of what appeared to be a car on the screen. I mean, unless this guy is married to a Transformer, one has to wonder how in the world that got there!
Of course, the couple isn’t actually having a car. It’s likely just an optical illusion or some odd quirk of the ultrasound machine. After all, as much as we love our cars, they don’t come from the hospital nursery! Despite the excitement of their first child being conceived via a gestational surrogate, this pregnancy came as a delightful surprise, albeit a confusing one when the ultrasound showed what looked like a Model T instead of a tiny human.
Ultrasound experiences can be surreal, and I can attest to that having only witnessed human births myself. The technology is amazing, and that first heartbeat? Absolutely unforgettable! The techs often point out things that leave you scratching your head, so one can only hope that the technician reassured this couple that they were indeed having a baby and not an automobile.
To be fair, ultrasound images aren’t the clearest indicators of what your baby will look like. It’s like trying to decipher a blurry photo of a half-baked pastry. No matter how crisp that printout is, the actual baby will likely look quite different — and usually not like a car!
Fortunately, Mike and Mary are taking this unexpected news in stride, quipping that “a miracle happened and my wife became pregnant naturally, well as naturally as you can when you’re carrying a car.” They even joked about checking under the hood and discovering “it’s a boy car!” Here’s hoping they have a garage big enough for their new addition!
