Empowered Women Vote! by Clara Jensen
Oct. 2, 2016
Imagine a woman-founded, woman-operated, eco-conscious brand that creates fiercely fun, vintage-inspired feminist mugs, bumper stickers, pins, bookmarks, and so much more. Yes, please! Empowered Women is the brainchild of Lisa Thompson, who launched the company in 1999 and still leads it today. Initially, Lisa was a stay-at-home mom crafting unique gifts for her friends, but her fabulous creations quickly gained traction. Before long, she was selling her products in specialty shops and building a brand that resonates with smart, witty women everywhere.
Empowered Women offers practical items made from reusable (and often recyclable) materials, all while being irresistibly cute. You’ll find slogans like “Empowered Women Crave Good Company” and “Empowered Women Thirst for Knowledge” cleverly etched onto drinking glasses.
But there’s more to Empowered Women than just charming feminist merchandise. The company is dedicated to inspiring women to make a real impact in the world, particularly in the political sphere. “We want women to understand that our actions can create change,” the Empowered Women website states. “By embodying our values every single day—whether we’re running errands, managing an office, or even running for office—Empowered Women make a difference daily.” Amen to that!
Empowered Women has a solid track record of engaging in elections and motivating women to cast their votes. Back in 2004, they partnered with The League of Women Voters for the “Empowered Women 2004 Vote for Change Tour.” For the upcoming 2016 election, they’ve launched an exciting new line of products designed to inspire solidarity and ensure every woman is registered to vote. And sure, it wouldn’t hurt to check on the men in your life as well!
Let’s rally together! Make sure your neighbor and her mom are on the voter registration list, and don’t forget about your great aunt who just relocated to Florida. Encourage every college-age voter you know to make their voices heard. They may think their votes don’t count, but now more than ever, they do!

In summary, Empowered Women is more than just a brand; it’s a movement that encourages women to take action, make their voices heard, and support each other in every aspect of life.
