Photographer Aims to Challenge the Notion of ‘Men’s Work’
In a bold move to dismantle outdated gender roles, commercial photographer Jamie Rivers has embarked on a project that showcases women excelling in professions typically labeled as “men’s work.” Inspired by a woman who transitioned from web design in New York City to become a butcher in Philadelphia, Rivers captures stunning portraits that highlight the absurdity of such classifications.
The project was ignited by the incredible story of Mia Franks, the head butcher at a local Philadelphia establishment. “Mia is the catalyst for this entire project,” Rivers explains. “Just a few years ago, she made a significant career shift and has since become a prominent figure in the sustainable food movement.”
