Dear Partner,
I know you leave for work every morning to support our family, braving the world while I’m here managing the kids and working from home. I truly appreciate all the hard work you put in to keep our lives running smoothly. Thank you for those long hours that put food on our table and a roof over our heads.
But can we talk about your alarm clock for a moment? Please, for the love of all that is holy, turn off that blasted thing in the morning! I understand you’re tired; we’ve both been running on fumes since the kids arrived. But it’s not my fault that you binge-watched YouTube until the witching hour or guzzled water like a camel before bed, leading to hourly bathroom trips. Yet, here I am, the one suffering every morning.
I can tolerate the alarm going off once. You hit snooze, and most of the time, I can drift back to sleep. But then it blares again—eight minutes later—again, and again, until I’m filled with an “I-can’t-take-this-anymore” rage that could rival a reality show villain. Sometimes, when the stars align and the kids don’t wake me at dawn, I crave a few extra minutes of sleep. Yet, your classic rock playlist shrieks from your side of the bed, shattering my peaceful slumber.
Oh, and let’s not forget the kids. They love to join us in bed, and they’re not exactly morning people (just like their mother!). When you hit snooze, they wake up too, which means I wake up, and suddenly, we’re all grumpy while you waltz off to work. Do you have any idea how much sleep you’re missing out on? If you need those extra 40 minutes, set your alarm later and actually get some rest.
I’m not a hotel concierge here to serve you wake-up calls or rub your back gently to ease you into the day. I’m just a sleep-deprived woman who’s been in this marathon for five years, and all I want is for you to rise when your alarm goes off the first time.
Trust me, it’s better for you, better for us, and better for the kids. Please, if you care about my sanity and your children’s well-being, figure this out and stop the snooze button madness. Thanks, love.
