Parenting can be a rollercoaster, right? We live in an era where you can purchase an entire bag of pink Starbursts—thank goodness for no more yellow ones! There are mermaid-themed swim classes for moms and their little ones, goat yoga, and an endless supply of unicorn-themed everything. Truly, what a wild time to be alive! But despite the joys, it sometimes feels like the world has lost its marbles.
I typically pride myself on being a live-and-let-live type, but good grief, some things out there are downright infuriating. I don’t know about you, but I’ve been finding myself swearing a lot more—because when things don’t make sense, sometimes there are just no other words. What on earth is happening? Here are a few things that have me shaking my head, saying “WTF,” and unleashing my inner sailor.
1. Fashion Fiascos
I’ve never claimed to be a fashionista, but lately, the trends are making me scratch my head. Nordstrom, which was once my go-to for stylish finds, is now a source of bewilderment. First, clear-knee jeans? Really? And how about those $1,200 sock sandals? Don’t even get me started on the $425 jeans with faux mud—because nothing screams “I have too much money” quite like that. And let’s not forget the recent incident where an employee shamed a mom for breastfeeding in the bathroom. Really, Nordstrom? Step it up!
2. HGTV Shenanigans
I adore a good home renovation show, but what in the world is happening on HGTV? Instead of relatable families, we’re seeing couples who sell homemade granola and teach dog meditation looking for beach houses worth nearly a million dollars. Even Joanna Gaines, queen of chic decor, seems to be peddling $90 throw pillows. Seriously, HGTV, have you had one too many cocktails?
3. Absurdity Everywhere
There’s a lot of nonsense floating around these days. I try to maintain a positive outlook, but it’s a challenge. News stories make me want to weep, and online comment sections are a cesspool. It’s tough to stay in my happy bubble when the world feels like it’s gone bonkers. Has humanity lost its mind?
4. “All Lives Matter” Nonsense
Let’s be real for a second—if you’re still saying “All Lives Matter,” it’s time to wake up. The reality is that until every single Black individual can walk down the street without fear, it’s clear that not all lives are treated equally. This is a major issue, and we must do better.
5. The Isms
It’s 2023, and racism, xenophobia, sexism, and all the other -isms have no place in our society. Don’t even try to defend this nonsense; just stop. We need to do better as a society.
6. Bizarre Kid Trends
From bottle flipping to homemade slime, I’m lost. While these trends are relatively harmless, they still drive me up the wall. I can’t handle another bottle flip, and I’m done scraping goo off the furniture. Although I have to admit, fidget spinners do have their oddly calming effects.
7. Commenters Who Don’t Read
Hey, if you’re going to comment without reading the article, don’t be surprised if I respond with “I’m sorry, I didn’t read your comment, but you’re a jerk.” Let’s all agree to read before we comment, folks!
8. The Current Administration
Enough said! Feel free to let out that frustration; you’re not alone.
9. Dishonest Folks
I can’t handle liars or anyone who bends the truth. Authenticity is key, and I can sniff out fakes from a mile away. I have no patience for that kind of nonsense.
10. The Pearl Clutchers
I’m baffled by those who navigate the chaos of parenting without a few choice words. But hey, to each their own. Just don’t tell me to “watch my language.” I’m an adult, thank you very much!
Honestly, how can we cope with all these frustrations without a solid “What the heck” or “Forget this” now and then? A little swearing seems to be essential for stress relief these days.

Summary: From ridiculous fashion trends to baffling kid fads, the world can sometimes feel overwhelming. It’s important to acknowledge the absurdities while maintaining a sense of humor. As we navigate these challenges, remember that a little venting can be a great stress reliever!
