Young Ava Johnston, just seven years old, didn’t want to miss out on her school’s “crazy hair day.” However, she faced a unique challenge: Ava has alopecia, an autoimmune condition that has resulted in her losing all her hair over the past few months.

She added, “Ava remains her beautiful, spirited, intelligent, and kind self. I’m excited to explore this with her and have fun trying new things. This girl is fierce and braver than I ever expected. I love her to bits.”
Through it all, Ava has maintained a positive outlook, confidently rocking headscarves, wigs, and even her bald head. “You have to teach your kids that life isn’t always fair; they must learn to adapt and make it their own,” Sarah told a local news outlet. “Whatever challenges you face, even if it’s alopecia, stay confident, be yourself, and remember, bald is beautiful.”
