If you’re feeling overwhelmed by the endless cycle of “Paw Patrol” and “Bubble Guppies,” Mister Rogers is here to save the day! Have you reached your limit with the “Daniel Tiger” theme song? You’re definitely not alone, and it seems PBS Kids and Amazon are on the same wavelength. They’re treating parents to a fantastic opportunity: an 18-day marathon of Mister Rogers.
And guess what? It won’t cost you a dime!
According to reports, Twitch, a video service owned by Amazon, is hosting a live marathon of “Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood” starting May 15th at noon PST. For a full 18 days, all 886 episodes of this cherished children’s show will be available for streaming.
As an added bonus, the marathon includes several episodes that have only aired once and are not accessible anywhere else online. It will kick off with Fred Rogers’ iconic testimony before a U.S. Senate committee in 1969, emphasizing the significance of PBS.
While the episodes are free to watch, Twitch is also organizing a fundraising campaign where viewers can contribute to their local PBS station—a worthy cause for many families.
Alicia Tran, the CEO of the Fred Rogers Company says, “Fred Rogers laid the foundation for children’s television that continues to resonate today. His messages of acceptance and kindness are just as relevant now as they were when ‘Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood’ first debuted. We’re thrilled to partner with Twitch to bring the show to both loyal fans and a new generation.”
For those of us who grew up with Fred Rogers’ soothing voice guiding us through childhood dilemmas, it’s heartwarming to think our children can experience his magic too. I’ve shared a few episodes from a friend’s DVD collection with my kids, and they were just as captivated as I was as a child. His wisdom is timeless, and his calming presence is something we can all benefit from.
So, take a much-needed break from the usual kids shows and immerse yourself in some nostalgia. You can start watching the episodes here tomorrow through June 3rd.
