Over the past few years, I’ve taken a closer look at the behaviors of children and, surprisingly, have found many similarities in their adult counterparts. My conclusion? Adults are essentially large children. While some studies suggest that kids resemble tiny drunk people, I argue that adults exhibit childlike tendencies in even more relatable ways.
1) Toy Tug-of-War
Kids: When Kid #1 tires of a toy, she leaves it for something new. As soon as Kid #2 picks it up, Kid #1 suddenly wants it back. Classic playground drama!
Adults: Woman #1 dates a man but loses interest. Once Woman #2 shows interest, Woman #1 wants him back. “That’s my guy! I had him first!” Makes perfect sense, right?
2) Crying Chain Reaction
Kids: When Kid #1 starts crying, it triggers a domino effect, and soon the entire group is sobbing for no clear reason.
Adults: Think of every viral internet trend. Someone shares a random meme, and suddenly, everyone feels compelled to join the fray, even if they couldn’t care less about the subject.
3) Whining Wars
Kids: Kid #1 whines for her way, and Kid #2 retaliates with even louder whining. Nothing productive happens.
Adults: Ah, Congress. Need I say more?
4) Attention Seekers
Kids: Kid #1 dances in front of the TV for attention, while Kid #2 starts singing loudly.
Adults: Reality TV shows like The Kardashians and TLC’s various programs thrive on the same need for attention. Can you blame them? They’re popular for a reason!
5) Outbursts of Anger
Kids: When Kid #1 yells in anger, it’s unacceptable behavior.
Adults: But when you yell at a child, it’s often justified. Funny how that works!
6) Conflicts and Consequences
Kids: A disagreement escalates when Kid #2 pinches Kid #1, leading to a full-blown kicking match.
Adults: Men can be just as petty, whether it’s over sports, money, or even a sandwich. Yes, it’s a primal instinct!
7) Name-Calling
Kids: Kid #1 calls Kid #2 a “butt-face,” and Kid #2 retorts with “poop-head.”
Adults: Women may have refined this art to whispers of gossip. “Did you see what she’s wearing?” Just keeping it classy!
8) Master Manipulators
Kids: When told no, kids often play one parent against the other to get what they want.
Adults: Congress—let’s just drop that name again for good measure.
9) Procrastination
Kids: When asked to tidy up, kids would rather play.
Adults: Retail employees do the same when the manager is out of sight. It’s practically a rite of passage!
10) Impulsive Decisions
Kids: Given a cupcake with the promise of two if they wait, they devour the one immediately.
Adults: Honestly, I can relate when I’m on a diet. Just hand me the cupcake already!
In conclusion, while I could have shared many more anecdotes, it’s clear: adults are just taller versions of kids, armed with a bit more vocabulary and fine motor skills. If you think your child has a short attention span, just observe any adult scrolling through social media! Our ability to manage emotions is often a thin facade. So, in light of these revelations, let’s hope our kids cut us some slack!

Summary: Adults share many behaviors with children, from attention-seeking antics to impulsive decisions. These similarities highlight how we never fully outgrow our childhood tendencies, prompting the question of whether we should be more understanding of children’s actions.
