It seems like a few of you have been curious about my trick for capturing those perfect Halloween photos with all three of my kids flashing their best smiles. Well, let me spill the beans: I’m completely unashamed to look silly in the process. Seriously, I have no qualms about acting like a total goofball when it comes to snapping pictures of my little ones, especially in their fantastic costumes.
Yesterday’s weather was simply perfect, and I knew I had a limited window to achieve my photographic goals. Who cares if the neighbors are watching me leap around and make ridiculous noises? At the end of the day, I’m the one who gets to keep those picture-perfect moments—let them stare!
What? Am I the only one who finds it normal to shout these delightful phrases at my children while donning a ridiculously oversized witch hat and flailing my arms?
- “Look at that bird! Oh no, it’s going to drop a surprise on you!”
- “Fart noises! Doody doodle! Poop faces!”
- “Hey, I see some boogers hanging out!”
- “Is there something on my nose? Come look closely!”
- “Diiiiiii-a-reeeee-haaaa!”
Give it a shot next time you’re in a similar situation. I promise, it’s effective—until they decide they’re done posing, that is. At that point, it’s time to bring out the secret weapon: chocolate.
