When the celebrity phone hacking scandal first broke, my immediate thought was: do that many people actually take intimate photos of themselves? Clearly, they do, and perhaps I’m just not in on the trend.
Jokes aside, I’m a busy mom of three, and I enjoy chocolate way too much to ever risk having any questionable photos floating around in some digital void. But it did get me thinking about the potential threats of hacking and what someone might uncover on my phone. Then I realized, at 37, I’m just a regular mom—who’s really going to want to hack my phone? Still, if someone were to take the plunge, they’d stumble upon a few amusing finds:
- Kid selfies. Honestly, this one is pretty self-explanatory, but who wouldn’t want to see the adorable chaos?
- Epic selfie fails. Like that one time I inadvertently captured my double chin in a close-up while trying to switch the camera around. Definitely not my finest moment!
- Unidentifiable photos. Sometimes, I can piece it together—like that time my toddler snapped a pic of my armpit or my unkempt leg. Spoiler: I won’t be sharing those!
- The urgent “should-I-take-this-kid-to-the-emergency-room?” picture I sent to my husband in a panic.
- Dressing room dilemmas! I often send my sister photos asking, “Does my backside look huge?” or “Can I pull off these skinny jeans?” She knows to delete those right after viewing, but there might be a couple of rogue ones left behind!
- A slew of “I-can’t-believe-this-happened” photos that capture precious moments I never want to forget.
- Unread PTA emails piling up like a mountain of guilt.
- Missed calls from friends I won’t name—sorry, not sorry!
- Notes jotted down for things I should remember, like my kids’ first day of school.
- And, of course, a treasure trove of texts between my husband and me. Spoiler alert: they’re definitely not racy. They’re more along the lines of, “Did you remember to pick up milk?”
So, dear hackers, feel free to dive right in! I’m curious to see how you’d leverage the exciting content you find on my phone. If it’s compelling enough for a magazine feature, I’ll happily share the proceeds with you.
What about you? What would someone uncover on YOUR phone?
