As a parent, I’ve taken to using a video baby monitor, which might seem a bit overly cautious, but I need to know if my little ones are truly asleep or just biding their time to see if I’ll come peek in on them. My kids are clever little beings! After settling them down, I find myself checking the monitor every 5-10 minutes to see their antics.
Sometimes they’re giggling or chattering, other times they’re throwing a tantrum or quietly playing in their cribs. Those moments when they lie silently, staring at the ceiling, make me wonder, “What are they thinking?” Here are some of the musings I imagine might be swirling through their minds:
- Why does Mr. Raccoon wear pajamas at night but not during the day? My kids are sharp observers!
- How can I get my hands on some candy? Even I ponder this at 2 AM when I crave a midnight snack.
- What does Mom do while I’m sleeping? Probably indulging in some treats.
- How long until I can have candy? Just give up, kiddo—candy is for the grown-ups!
- Why does Mom shut the door when she goes to the bathroom, but I can just go anywhere? You’re still mastering the potty training, my dear. Plus, you get to watch TV while doing it!
- This diaper really gets in the way. Maybe I’ll just toss it into my sibling’s crib. Duct tape diapers: added to the evening routine!
- What’s the fuss about clothes? That’s a deep philosophical question for another day.
- I hope tomorrow is bath night! Only if we have spaghetti, which seems to be a magical combination in our house.
- Candy, candy, candy! Enough already, milk breath!
- I don’t know what “coffee” is, but it seems super important to Mom. Please don’t spill it; it makes her sad.
- How old do I have to be to enjoy cheesecake for breakfast like Mom did today? Maybe when you’re out on your own!
- It’s time to teach Mom that grapes aren’t candy. Very wise, little one—now enjoy nature’s treats!
- Why does my sibling have an extra finger? We’ll save that chat for when you’re much older—right after I get more coffee.
- What’s with the spider crawling up the spout? He must not eat his vegetables!
- I really like Mom. She’s so smart, funny, and awesome. I want to be just like her so I can buy all the candy! I hope you earn enough to fulfill your sugary dreams, but not enough to put me in a retirement home!
