Last week was a whirlwind. By Friday, I completely blanked on taking my little ones to the art show at preschool. Oops!
A few years back, I would have been so hard on myself about this. Even just a few weeks ago, I might have felt the same way. But now I’ve learned a valuable lesson: I will make mistakes. And so will you. It’s going to happen more than once, but guess what? Your kids will bounce back just fine. In fact, they probably won’t even remember these little blunders.

- Forget the Tooth Fairy Surprise: If you overlook that little tooth under the pillow, don’t sweat it. Just remind your child that the Tooth Fairy sometimes leaves surprises in unexpected places, like under the bed. They’ll eventually forgive you, especially once the fairy finally shows up—yes, it can take a few days sometimes!
- Miss the Pickup: Forgetting to collect your child from a playdate or after school? No worries. Your kid will manage, even if the other parents are a bit annoyed.
- Wrong Game Time: Showing up late or at the wrong time for a game can be a letdown for your child. They’ll be frustrated for a bit, but they’ll survive, and next time, you’ll double-check!
- Snack Duty Slip-Up: You signed up to bring snacks for the class party but totally spaced on it? No problem! There’s usually plenty of food, and your child won’t even notice what’s missing.
- Award Banquet Blunder: If you miss the big award ceremony where your child was honored as the “Most Awesome Kid,” don’t fret. Once they get the award, they probably won’t even care that you weren’t there.
- Epic Game Miss: Forgetting to attend the game where your child scores the winning point can sting. Hopefully, someone captured the moment on video!
- Sick Day Regret: Sending your child to school when they feel unwell and then getting called to pick them up after a mishap? At least you avoided the clean-up job!
- Bus Stop Faux Pas: Leaving your child on the bus after school will happen. Just think, after a few times, the bus driver might even start bringing snacks for your little one.
- Minor Injury Oversight: Telling your daughter that her arm is merely bruised, only to discover later it was broken? Don’t stress! The bright pink cast will definitely make up for it.
- Birthday Party Forgetfulness: Completely overlooking a classmate’s birthday bash? Consider yourself lucky! Those parties can be a bit overwhelming anyway.
