Just because it’s summer doesn’t mean you can run wild and do whatever you please! I know you’re excited about your break from school, but let’s not forget that our home still has some important rules to follow. Here’s a little reminder for you:
- Snacking all day is a no-go. I get that you just had a massive breakfast, but 12 pancakes and 5 eggs should keep you satisfied for more than 15 minutes. If you’re bored, there are plenty of other activities to dive into! Go outside, explore, or maybe try your hand at some art (just keep the glitter at bay). The refrigerator is not your playground!
- Please close the door behind you. This rule has been around since you learned to walk. It’s hot outside, and leaving the door open just lets all the cool air escape. Remember, closing is the opposite of opening! If you can open it, you can close it—easy peasy! Next time you forget, I might just have to take a little from your college fund to pay the electricity bill.
- Staying up all night is off the table. Even without school, getting enough sleep is still vital. We love you and want you to function well—plus, nobody wants to deal with a grumpy monster. So, lights out and books away! And please, no more midnight trips to our room for lost pencils!
- The rules from before still apply. Just because school is out doesn’t mean you can start walking across tables or sneaking onto the computer. No means no, regardless of the season. And remember, just because other kids might have different rules, you’ve got us—your parents who care!
- You make a mess? You clean it up. If you want to play a different game, tidy up first. If you accidentally dumped glitter everywhere, time to grab a broom and wipe that table. No cleaning, no playing outside!
- Swimsuits have a time limit. I know they’re comfy, but wearing the same swimsuit for 20 consecutive days is a bit much. Let’s aim for five or six. I’ll even wash them for you so you can enjoy them again!
- Pool time is not bath time. Just because it’s all wet and fun doesn’t mean you can skip the bath afterward. Chlorine and other kids? Yikes! So, when you’re back from the pool, it’s wash-up time, too!
- Breaking rules has consequences. Yes, we still enforce these rules during summer break. Consistency is key, and without it, you might feel lost. Just ask any kid without a parent! We want you to have the best experience at home, and that’s why these rules exist.
Now go outside and enjoy the sunshine while I take a moment to breathe and remember why these rules are so crucial.
And if you’re curious about starting a family one day, check out this resource on pregnancy and home insemination—it’s a great starting point. In summary, summertime is a time for fun, but it doesn’t mean we throw the rules out the window. With some guidance and reminders, we can all enjoy a wonderful summer together.
