I’ve never been one to indulge in adult entertainment—really, I promise! I’ve never even considered subscribing to those exclusive channels in hotels, and my internet browsing history is squeaky clean. Why bother with traditional adult content when you can access a fresh, exciting (and entirely PG-rated!) alternative for free?
Just flip to channel 665 (HGTV in HD, at least on my setup), and you’ll understand. You can easily get lost in a universe filled with stunning soapstone countertops, sleek subway tile backsplashes, cozy assorted wood floors in inviting entryways, and tailor-made shoe storage tucked away in walk-in closets that outshine even the best kitchens. Don’t even get me started on those closets! I could ramble on forever. I just can’t get enough.
Countless hours vanish late into the night as I watch with bated breath, hoping to see if the charming family of four (with another little one on the way!) will choose to Love It or List It. My pick? Love it, of course! Who wouldn’t be captivated by the metamorphosis of a dreary basement into a state-of-the-art game room, home office, guest suite, and full bath? It’s simply breathtaking!
I’m also completely enchanted by the Property Brothers’ phenomenal ability to turn a dated 1970s Cape Cod fixer-upper into a dream home for a young couple eager to stay near the city while accommodating their dogs and even fitting in a yoga studio and music room. All of this, and within a budget that might just buy me a decent new HVAC system—maybe. And let’s not forget the astonishingly quick time frame in which the Property Brothers pull it all off; it’s almost as fast as it took me to declutter my garage last spring.
While I don’t always agree with every design choice made by my favorite HGTV stars, I still find myself utterly fascinated with their creations. Sure, media rooms, expansive garages, and custom fire pits may not tickle my fancy, but they could be someone else’s dream, and I can appreciate that.
I’m not alone in this obsession. A recent girls’ night with friends from college turned into a lengthy discussion about our favorite late-night shows. Some of the ladies even introduced me to fresh addictions like Rehab Addict and Fixer Upper. Have you seen what the Addict can do to a fireplace? It’s almost criminal!
I know I could be spending my time on more productive endeavors, but there are certainly worse ways to pass the time, right? So for now, I’ll keep enjoying the thrill until the House Hunters discover that perfect bungalow close to the water and the park, all while staying well beneath budget, of course. Sounds perfect to me!
