This sleep schedule might either be your saving grace or a source of good laughs!
A Wisconsin elementary school teacher recently shared a proposed sleep schedule for parents on the Wilson Elementary Facebook page, and it quickly caught fire online. Take a look, and you might see why it sparked such a reaction.
Did Garfield create this sleep schedule? I might just be speaking out of jealousy because my children seem to think bedtime is more of a suggestion. But 6:45 p.m.? Most working parents are just wrapping up their workday and getting dinner on the table by then! How on earth are they expected to follow a schedule like this? Please enlighten me. Plus, I find it amusing that for ages five to eight, the cut-off is strictly 9 p.m. If your kids aren’t in bed by then, good luck to you—you’re in serious trouble!
What’s truly remarkable is how many parents chimed in, claiming this schedule aligns perfectly with their own routines. Really? Am I just totally off base in my parenting approach? Kudos to anyone who can get their kids to bed before Jeopardy! I haven’t managed to watch that show in ages. Here’s what some parents had to say in support of the schedule:
- “I commend the teacher for sharing this; it’s quite realistic.”
- “Glad to see I’m on the right track, thanks for posting!”
- “Looks similar to what we did, and we never faced issues.”
- “Absolutely ‘spot on!’”
“Spot on?” Seriously? I knew I should have sleep trained my kids. One commenter shared, “This is very realistic, but my kids are actually in bed even earlier—8 p.m. for my 3 and 9-year-olds, and they wake up at 7.” Now that’s just showing off!
And then there are the reactions from those who are clearly in my camp:
- “LOL! That’s hilarious!”
- “Really? HAHA!”
- “Too funny!”
The varied responses highlight that there’s no one-size-fits-all approach to parenting. Some parents enjoy freedom by 7 p.m., while others are still in the trenches.
It looks like I’m in the wrong crowd here.
