No Thanks, Fashion Santa

The holiday season has sparked quite a buzz around Santa Claus, with various interpretations of him appearing across the U.S. From Santa who connects with children on the autism spectrum to those who take a more laid-back approach, like “Sleeping Santa,” there’s no shortage of creativity. But now, we’re introduced to yet another version: “Fashion Santa.”

Have you ever imagined what it would be like if Santa exchanged his sleigh for a runway? Thanks to Yorkdale Mall in Toronto, we don’t have to wonder anymore.

Traditionally, Santa is a cheerful figure with a round belly and rosy cheeks, blissfully unaware of gym memberships or the latest dieting trends. After all, who wants a Santa who isn’t excited about indulging in the cookies and milk left out for him? While Fashion Santa may have a certain appeal with his stylish looks, I prefer my Santa to be the classic, jolly, and imperfect character he was meant to be.

On a brighter note, Fashion Santa is doing some good this season. As part of their holiday initiative, Yorkdale Mall will contribute $1 to the SickKids Foundation for every selfie shared with the hashtag #YorkdaleFashionSanta, up to a maximum of $10,000. It’s a fun way to give back during this festive time.

In summary, while Fashion Santa may be a trendy twist on the classic holiday figure, I’ll stick to the traditional image of Santa—jolly and full of spirit.
