My “Forget It” List Has Overtaken My Bucket List
Like many people, I have a bucket list filled with dreams of traveling to places like Italy to indulge in delicious food and wine. However, at this point in my life, my “Forget It” list has taken the spotlight. Sure, I still want to check off those bucket list items someday, but right now, my mind simply can’t juggle both. I’ve discovered that embracing a “forget it” attitude is incredibly liberating. If something isn’t sparking joy or excitement, I just say “forget it!” If I can’t change the situation, then I’ll just roll with it. This list keeps growing as I get older, and it brings me joy. Here are ten of my top “forget it” moments:
-
The Tupperware Disaster
Ever since my youngest started crawling, my Tupperware cabinet has become a monumental time sink. It used to be a source of frustration as I searched for matching lids, but I’ve given up. Now, I simply wrap leftovers in cling film and pour myself a glass of wine—preferably from my favorite glass that boldly declares “forget it.” -
Sock Matching Madness
Life is too short to stress over socks! My kids often sport mismatched pairs or just one sock. So, I’ve decided to toss them all together in a drawer and think, “Forget it, I’ve done my best, and no one really cares.” -
The Junk Drawer Cleanup
Cleaning out the junk drawer? No way! It’s way more fun to dump everything in the trash and make space for more clutter. That little act saves me time and sanity—two things I can’t afford to waste. -
Embracing Drive-Thrus
Sometimes I just need that caffeine fix! I’ve tried to cut back on drive-thrus, but hey, life happens. If it’s close to dinner, I’ll announce we’re eating out again, and my kids will be thrilled. Plus, nothing beats the bliss of tired kids drifting off to sleep after a meal of fries. -
The Truth About Holiday Figures
When my kids ask about the Easter Bunny, I could dive into a serious conversation about reality, but why complicate things? I choose to lean into the fun and say, “Yep, that was him! Now, here’s some extra candy while I take a breather.” -
Swimsuit Shopping Woes
Trying on swimsuits is a brutal reminder of body image struggles. But you know what? If I can pull it off without moving much, I’m going for it. It’s the ultimate “forget it” moment. -
Fashion Freedom for My Kids
My daughter loves wearing her fleece pajamas in the summer, and my son insists on knee socks with shorts during winter. After a quick explanation about temperature, I count to three, then think, “Forget it, let them figure it out.” -
Sugar Shenanigans
My kids can run wild in the sun, so I let them indulge in those sugary treats. As a fun mom, I think it’s okay to let them have a third Popsicle—until the sugar rush hits, and then I hand them their tablets just to keep the peace. -
Treating Myself
Whether it’s a cute outfit or a decadent dessert, I believe in rewarding myself. Moms deserve little luxuries, so I proudly say, “Forget it, I’ve earned this!” After all, I’ve been on diaper duty for years! -
Not Everyone Has to Like Me
If someone doesn’t resonate with my “forget it” attitude, then that’s their problem, not mine. I’m grateful for the people who appreciate my laid-back perspective. The more I embrace it, the more positivity I attract.
One day, I’ll revisit my bucket list, but for now, I’m too busy enjoying the chaos of parenthood. Watching my kids revel in their choices, mismatched socks, and extra treats is what matters most. And hey, I’ll happily accept that third glass of wine—because forget it!
