I discovered I was expecting in February of 1992, just as I decided to leave my position as a young attorney to serve as the Deputy State Director for the Bill Clinton presidential campaign in Massachusetts. Once Bill secured the nomination, I took on the role of Issues Director in the state while my pregnancy progressed. Our daughter, Lily, made her debut just two days before Bill’s election victory in November 1992. I found myself pumping milk during the 36-hour inauguration festivities that followed, navigating new motherhood amidst political excitement.
Fast forward to today, and Lily, now nearly 24, is thriving in Brooklyn as a member of Hillary for America’s digital advertising team. Throughout her teenage years, we spent countless autumn afternoons in New Hampshire during election cycles, holding signs and canvassing for votes. After her freshman year of college, she joined Obama’s 2012 campaign, and when she expressed the desire to lighten her course load to continue working at headquarters in Chicago, I wholeheartedly supported her decision. When Hillary Clinton announced her presidential run, Lily was eager to be involved.

I vividly remember my first encounter with Hillary back in 1992. She spoke passionately from the steps of a supporter’s home in Brookline, Massachusetts, captivating the small crowd of 40 to 50 people packed into the hallway. Hillary emphasized the need to advocate for those who lack a voice, discussing the importance of women having choices regarding their medical care. She shared her experiences with the Children’s Defense Fund, advocating for children with disabilities. Hillary has dedicated her life to fighting for women and children. Nearly 24 years later, I felt compelled to join her campaign, and I’m excited to volunteer as an organizer sending supporters to swing states.
It brings me immense joy to see Lily as part of Hillary’s team — one of the passionate young staffers working tirelessly every day to spread Hillary’s message of empowerment for all Americans. Back in 1992, email was a budding innovation. Today, Lily and her colleagues leverage advanced analytics to gauge responses to their ads. While technology has evolved over the past 24 years, Hillary Clinton’s unwavering commitment to justice and family care remains steadfast. I couldn’t be prouder of Lily and honored to support Hillary Clinton!
