Hey there, America!

It’s your friendly neighbors from above, Canada.

Can we have a moment to chat?

There’s been a lot happening down there lately—especially in the past year. We know you’re in the midst of an election, and things tend to get a bit louder as the big day approaches. Typically, we don’t mind the ruckus; in fact, we often enjoy keeping up with your political shenanigans. We just had our own election not too long ago—did you catch that? Just kidding, we know you probably didn’t!

Meet Our New Prime Minister

Have you seen our new Prime Minister, Alex? He’s a bit like Obama—an advocate for gender equality, has a great sense of humor, and loves outdoor activities. He even pops up in wedding photos when he’s on vacation! Plus, he bases his policies on evidence—something you’d think is standard, but here we are.

Leadership Matters

This brings us to the topic we wanted to discuss: leadership. Now, we get it, you may not be too invested in our Prime Minister, and that’s perfectly okay because it’s not your country. We don’t claim the title of “Leader of the Free World,” after all. But you do. What goes on in the U.S. has a ripple effect across the globe. Usually, we’re not too concerned; we tend to lean more progressive, so we’ve been fans of President Obama. A President McCain or Romney wouldn’t have sent us into a panic.

Concerns About Your Candidates

However, one of your candidates has stirred up quite a bit of fear among us. To put it mildly, he’s a source of anxiety that leaves us wondering about the future on this spinning rock careening through the vast void of space.

And it’s not just us, honestly. Other countries are raising their eyebrows at your election too. In Eastern Europe, there are whispers that you might not uphold your commitments due to a certain candidate who seems to view long-standing alliances as mere protection schemes. Meanwhile, Japan is feeling uneasy, as that same candidate has mentioned leaving them with nuclear arms and walking away. Just the other day, he referred to the Philippines as a “terrorist nation,” and we’re still scratching our heads over that one.

We’ve also heard that this candidate seems to think using nuclear weapons is a viable solution to complex problems. That’s a major concern for all of us. We watch our children play, grow, and thrive, and we certainly don’t want to hand them a future filled with destruction and desolation.

Beyond his troubling views on nuclear solutions, it appears your candidate has forgotten that there are other nations with nuclear capabilities. Some of these countries can be unpredictable, especially when an American presidential candidate talks about abandoning allies and cozying up to aggressive powers while starting trade wars with large nuclear nations.

A Call for Better Leadership

So, come on, America. We feel close enough to be honest with you, and we believe you can do better. We hope you will.

With warm regards,

In Summary

We’re reaching out as your Canadian neighbors to express our concerns about the political climate in the U.S. and how it affects not just America but the world at large. It’s important to recognize the implications of leadership choices, especially during such pivotal moments.
