Dad Constructs an Epic Playhouse You’ll Wish You Could Call Home

Imagine a playhouse that looks like it jumped straight off the pages of an HGTV magazine. While we’ve all seen the standard Fisher-Price models that dot suburban backyards, one dad took it to a whole new level with a jaw-dropping two-story masterpiece for his daughters.
Meet Jake Thompson, a dad with a serious talent for construction and the president of Thompson Building Co. in Michigan. His creation is so stunning, you might just consider moving in yourself!
To start, this isn’t just any playhouse—it’s two stories high, with an upstairs that features not one, but two porches adorned with hanging flower baskets. “I wanted to create something truly special that they could proudly tell their friends their dad built,” Jake explained to Daily Buzz. With daughters Emily, 5, and Lucy, 2, he felt inspired to go big. “I thought, ‘Why stop here?’”
It’s like a dream come true for kids! If a designer like Joanna Gaines were to craft a playhouse, this would be it. Instead of the expected shiplap and neutral tones, this beauty boasts a delightful purple interior. And let’s not forget the crown molding—crafted with a little help from his eldest daughter. “That was the most rewarding part,” he shared. “She loved sanding the crown molding with me!”

After receiving an overwhelming amount of praise for his “Ultimate Playhouse,” Jake is launching a new venture called “Playhouse Paradise,” focused on creating extravagant playhouses for other families. “Here’s the playhouse I built for my girls. I’d love to do it again for another family to enjoy!” he announced on Thompson Building Co.’s Facebook page.
