This Mom’s Epic Morning Madness Captures the Reality of Parenting

Meet Laura, a supermom of four, who tackles the chaos of getting her kids ready each morning. Before she even settles into her office chair, she’s already covered a staggering 2.5 miles—and she’s had enough of those “It must be nice to stroll into work at 9:00 am” comments. Her response? “Enough already!”

In a recent Facebook post, Laura detailed her whirlwind morning routine, from the moment her alarm goes off to when she finally arrives at work.

She begins with the monumental task of rousing “four sleepyheads.” It’s a scene many of us know all too well. “I gently nudged some, coaxed others, and one? Well, I had to yank the covers off and practically roll them onto the floor when gentle encouragement didn’t cut it,” she shared. In the midst of this morning madness, she somehow manages to brew her coffee and retrieve a soggy pull-up from under her bed—because, let’s be real, every morning has its little trials.

Laura flushes forgotten toilets, pleads for brushing teeth she knows will be ignored, and juggles drop-offs and school bus schedules while dealing with the delightful chaos of screaming children. Once the kids are finally out the door, life should be a breeze, right? Not quite.

“I took apart pillow forts, disentangled Paw Patrol underwear from lamps, threw in a load of laundry… fed and watered the dog, wiped down counters, turned off the TV, coffee maker, and a zillion lights, and locked up,” she wrote. Yes, you read that right. If she doesn’t tackle it now, it’ll be waiting for her when she gets home, alongside dinner prep, homework, and bedtime madness. Seriously, how does no one get how much we handle?

When Laura finally sits at her desk, her Fitbit proudly announces that she’s already walked 2.5 miles. And she sums it up perfectly: “If walking 2.5 miles without actually getting anywhere isn’t what this stage of life looks like, then I don’t know what is.”

Thank you for speaking the truth, Laura! She’s not seeking sympathy; she simply wants a smidge of understanding and acknowledgment that parenting is no walk in the park.

“As a mom of four little ones, I’ve felt like I’ve been apologizing for being late or frazzled for over a decade,” she told Home Insemination Kit. “I wrote that post out of frustration—always feeling sorry for things I’m not even truly remorseful about.”

Whether working from home or commuting to an office, juggling full-time or part-time jobs, or managing the endless duties of parenthood, all parents put in hard work. When they’re not at their “day job,” they’re busy planning, organizing, or simply surviving their second job—raising kids.

“To all the working mamas, I feel you. I really do. But to ALL mamas, I’m raising my now-cold cup of coffee to you. Keep doing your thing, whatever that may be,” she encourages. “Unless that thing involves judgment. We don’t have time for that nonsense. Some of us have enough on our plates as it is.”

In summary, Laura’s hilarious and relatable morning saga shines a light on the unseen efforts of parents everywhere. It’s a reminder that every day is a marathon, filled with challenges that deserve recognition and respect.
