Kids Say and Do Some Seriously Creepy Stuff Sometimes

When I was about 7 years old, something truly tragic occurred to a family friend. My mom decided to send my sister and me out with our older cousin while she waited for news. My cousin took us to all our favorite spots around the neighborhood, but I just sat there, sobbing and repeating, “He’s gone. He’s gone.” Eventually, my cousin couldn’t handle it anymore and brought us home, only to discover that our friend had, in fact, passed away while we were out. I wasn’t some sort of child psychic, but, wow, that was eerie.
Whether clowns remind you of the circus or of horror movies, most of us can agree that kids can be downright spooky at times. They seem to predict death (sometimes accurately), claim to see spirits, and engage in all sorts of bizarre behaviors that either chill us to the bone or make us laugh—sometimes both.
When my oldest child was 3, he created a drawing for my partner. He said, “That’s the spider that crawls into your mouth while you sleep.” Uh, excuse me, what?! Another parent, Lisa, shared a story about how her 6-year-old stepdaughter whispered from behind her, “When I snap, you’ll be the first to go.” Turns out it was a phrase from her mom’s coffee mug, but still, that gave me chills.
In a thread on “Parents of Reddit, What’s the Creepiest Thing Your Child Has Ever Said?”, one user, spooky_mom, mentioned, “All my childhood games would end with a mass murder of all but one of the toys.” Yikes! And no, dear child, you will not be receiving one of those unsettling talking dolls for your birthday.
Kids often seem to have knowledge they shouldn’t. When I was 13, after bidding my grandmother farewell, a voice in my head urged me to go back and kiss her again, saying it would be the last time I’d see her. I followed that instinct, and shortly after, she had a heart attack and passed away.
My oldest son once insisted he would have a brother born on Halloween. We tried to convince him otherwise, explaining that the baby was due “around Halloween” but might not arrive on the actual day. Guess what? The baby was born on Halloween. Because of course, every creepy tale takes place on Halloween.
In a similar vein, another mom, Sarah, recounted how her 4-year-old looked at her on election day and said, “I’m sorry, Mommy, but Hillary isn’t going to win. Trump is.” That struck like a gut punch.
Then there are those children who claim to see things. When I was around 12, I witnessed a door slam shut without any wind or force—one of the most terrifying events of my life. On Reddit, a user named QuagmirePD revealed that his daughter claimed to see a “man with a snake neck” in their closet. And another user, Darinjfic, mentioned that his co-worker’s daughter was afraid of the pipes in their home, but not nearly as much as “the man who crawls on the floor and stands by her bed.” Maybe we should let the kids do the monster checks before bedtime because this stuff is creepy AF.
A friend of mine, Emily, recalled a strange incident from her childhood when the car radio suddenly cut out and began emitting loud static. Her 4-year-old sister insisted it was “Rachel” who turned off the music. When asked who Rachel was, the little girl replied, “A girl like me, she’s right there,” pointing to someone invisible. Chilling, right?
Then we have the extra creepy kids. I’m too spooked to even share some of these tales. But one story from user RatedRx takes the cake for creepiness: while working as a waitress, she encountered a little girl stabbing her sandwich repeatedly with a plastic fork, muttering, “Die die die die die.” When the waitress asked what she was doing, the girl, with a straight face, said, “I like to kill things, but Mom says I shouldn’t. So I picked the ham because it can’t scream.” Ummm, YIKES.
In short, kids are weird and a bit creepy. They engage in bizarre play, claim to see ghosts, and sometimes even predict the future. The terrifying clown from “It” has nothing on these little ones.

In conclusion, kids are undeniably strange and often exhibit behaviors that can be startling at times. The tales of their antics can be both amusing and unsettling.
