Being pregnant can be quite the rollercoaster, and having friends who understand the struggle can make all the difference. But sometimes, those friends can also bring the humor, and that’s exactly what Chrissy Benson had in mind for her expecting friend, model and actress Lily Carter.
When Carter posted a snapshot of her pregnancy-swollen foot on Instagram, it was sure to draw sympathy from anyone who has experienced the same. Yet, when Benson saw it, she couldn’t resist cracking a joke. “I can’t tell where your leg ends and your foot begins!” Carter lamented.
Benson jumped into the comments with a hilariously exaggerated faux-concern: “OMG, that’s disgusting! You definitely need to see a doctor!!! This is not normal!” She perfectly captured the overzealous grammar and excessive punctuation typical of internet critics (seriously, do they attend a workshop on how to leave preachy comments?). Then she added a cheeky reference to fish consumption, because heaven forbid anyone forgets the unsolicited advice that comes with pregnancy!
As if channeling the “Helpful Mom with a Blog,” Benson reminded Carter that she has all the expert advice if only she would visit (and leave a comment!). “The link’s broken,” Carter quipped, to which Benson humorously replied that it must be due to heavy traffic.
In the typical fashion of the internet, another user scolded Benson for her light-hearted comments, clearly missing the joke. “How can one woman call another’s situation ‘gross’? I never swelled like that, and I didn’t even eat tuna!” Oh, the internet never fails to entertain.
While the banter was all in good fun, it highlighted Benson’s subtle response to the barrage of unsolicited advice she often faces regarding her own parenting choices—everything from her IVF journey to her baby-holding techniques. With the volume of judgmental comments she receives, no one would blame her for tossing a little playful shade when the moment strikes.
As for Carter, we wish her plenty of rest and a steady stream of funny messages from her witty friend to help lighten the challenges of pregnancy. For more insights into home insemination, check out this blog post for additional resources.
