A recently released supercut highlights the extent of YouTube personality Logan Paul’s troubling behavior during his visit to Japan. While his infamous video featuring a deceased individual in Aokigahara forest was deeply disturbing, it turns out this incident was only a fraction of the problematic actions he engaged in throughout his trip.
For those unfamiliar with Logan Paul, he is known for his popular vlogs that attract a younger audience. During his Japan visit, he garnered negative attention after posting a video in which he and his friends filmed themselves in Aokigahara, also known as the “suicide forest,” where they encountered a body. In the new footage shared on social media, Paul’s behavior throughout Tokyo is shown to be equally offensive. At one point, he interacts with a vendor, dismissively stating that a video game he purchased was “mucho broken-o,” having previously slammed it onto the ground. The outrageous antics continue as he slams a raw octopus against a restaurant window and throws tentacles at unsuspecting pedestrians.
In a particularly absurd moment, Paul dresses as Pikachu and throws a ball at passing cars and cyclists, declaring, “I swear, Tokyo is just a giant playground.” His comments reveal a lack of awareness and respect for the culture he is visiting, as he jokingly contemplates whether he should stop his antics, showing no intention of doing so.
Backlash and Cultural Insensitivity
The backlash from viewers has been swift, with many expressing outrage on social media platforms. This behavior exemplifies the stereotype of a young, privileged American male who travels abroad to mock and trivialize the customs of others. It raises serious concerns about the message being sent to his young audience: that it is acceptable or “cool” to belittle different cultures.
