Welcome to week 9 of your pregnancy journey! Here’s what lies ahead…

Mind:

Can you believe you’re already nine weeks into your pregnancy? Your third month is just around the corner — time really does fly, whether you’re enjoying the experience or grappling with constant nausea! Pregnancy symptoms are in full force; fatigue is likely still a struggle, and you may be dealing with morning, afternoon, and evening sickness. The hormonal shifts may leave you feeling moody and emotional as well. If you’re managing to stay alert (and not hindered by the headaches from increased blood flow), consider eating small snacks throughout the day. While it might seem counterintuitive, keeping your stomach from being completely empty can help alleviate nausea. Stock up on snacks, aim for several small meals, and keep some crackers by your bedside for a quick nibble upon waking. Ginger hard candies could also provide some relief for many women.

Body:

You might notice some changes in your body, although others may not be able to see them yet. That slight increase in your waistline may feel monumental to you, but it’s likely still under the radar for friends and family. However, if you’re frequently rushing to the bathroom, it’s clear that something is going on! Your body is working incredibly hard right now, so accept any offers of assistance you receive. There are certainly tasks you should avoid during your pregnancy, such as painting, cleaning with harsh chemicals, or handling the litter box, which can harbor harmful parasites. Leave those chores to family members or your partner. Remember, it’s not easy being married to someone pregnant, but it’s even more challenging to be the one carrying the baby!

Baby:

At this stage, your baby is roughly the size of a piece of gum, which they may someday get stuck in their hair, leading to a rather comical haircut. Inside that tiny form, vital organs are still developing, including the lungs, liver, kidneys, and brain. The little heart chambers are forming, along with tiny teeth — let’s hope for a future without braces!

Nest:

You’ll have plenty of time for maternity clothes later on. For now, consider using button extenders or belly bands to hold onto your favorite jeans a bit longer. And don’t forget to stock up on healthy snacks! When nausea subsides, you’ll likely find yourself feeling hungry, so it’s wise to be prepared.

Summary:

At nine weeks pregnant, you are likely experiencing significant physical and emotional changes. While it may not yet be obvious to others, your body is working hard to nurture your developing baby, who is busy growing essential organs. Remember to prioritize your well-being and accept help where needed, while also preparing for the changes ahead in your journey.
