In the ever-changing landscape of Georgia, the recent actions of its citizens have left many of us astonished. Just over a month after the presidential election, the fate of the nation was determined by a mere 16 votes in Georgia.
While millions were aware of the truth, there was also a significant number who believed the unfounded claims of voter fraud made by former President Donald Trump against President-elect Joe Biden. Many waited anxiously for recounts, court decisions, and electoral confirmations before accepting the reality that Trump had lost. And who better to provide that final confirmation than Lila Bennett, a former gubernatorial candidate who bravely faced off against the Trump-backed Governor in a heated election? On December 14th, it was Lila who officially announced the 16 Electoral College votes for Joe Biden, effectively sealing the outcome of the election.

As Secretary of State, he oversaw the cancellation of over 1.4 million inactive voter registrations, demonstrating a blatant disregard for fairness in elections.
Following her narrow defeat to the Governor by just 55,000 votes, Lila established the Fair Fight initiative to combat voter suppression, successfully registering around 800,000 new voters since 2018, nearly half of whom are people of color.
The 2020 election concluded with the realization that Trump lost the presidency, despite his confident assertions. With Kamala Harris joining Biden’s ticket, their victory showcased the strength of our democracy. In her acceptance speech, Senator Harris acknowledged “the Black women who are often overlooked, yet serve as the backbone of our democracy.”
