“Fauci Ouchie” FTW
Kids have a way of saying the most delightful things. Take, for instance, a sweet exchange between ballet instructor Lily Brown and one of her young students regarding the COVID-19 vaccine. She shared the moment on Twitter, and the response was overwhelmingly positive, prompting many to want a change in the vaccine’s name immediately.
“A 6-year-old ballet student asked me today if I’m excited about getting my ‘Fauci Ouchie’ soon, and I will now refer to the COVID-19 vaccine as that, because it’s just too adorable,” Brown tweeted. We should probably consider letting this child rename everything!
As of Saturday, the CDC reported that 41.4 million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine (now affectionately dubbed the Fauci Ouchie) had been distributed, with 20.5 million administered. This includes doses for the Moderna and Pfizer/BioNTech vaccines. The data shows that over 17 million people have received at least one dose, while over 3 million have completed their vaccination with a second dose.
Returning to the charming ballet student, responses to Brown’s tweet flooded in, with many expressing their enthusiasm for the new name.
In recent developments, COVID-19 cases have been steadily declining, yet health officials remain cautious about emerging variants that could lead to a new wave of infections before the country can distribute Fauci Ouchies effectively. “We’re definitely on a downward slope, but I’m concerned about the new variants causing issues in late February or March,” said Dr. Sarah Roberts, an epidemiologist at a leading university.
On top of her delightful renaming, Brown shared that her student also mentioned how the new president “hired the army to bring us the medicine,” which I assume is how her parents explained The Defense Production Act to her. This kid seems more informed than many adults I know.
One hospital worker chimed in on Brown’s tweet, announcing that they would be naming their vaccine clinic after this little one’s charming words. “I work at a hospital & we’ve just opened what will now be called ‘The Fauci Ouchie Clinic.’ I’m spreading the word & anyone who calls it anything else will get the ouchie in their dominant arm. I got the shot, so trust me, they won’t forget that!”
Let’s hope this name catches on because it’s just too cute for words. Just imagine adults popping into their doctor’s office asking for the Fauci Ouchie!
