If you’re like countless other parents, you may have found yourself captivated by TikTok this past year. Just a year ago, many of us were only vaguely aware of the platform — we knew it was something “the kids” used for their dance routines and amusing antics. Little did we realize, TikTok is a treasure trove of content where parents can connect with one another, discover attractive lumberjack types, learn effective toilet-cleaning methods, and share a hearty laugh.

Essentially, it’s an entertainment vortex, and we’re all caught in it. Some more than others, as revealed in our Confessional.

Confessional #25815647: Just stumbled upon a TikTok account featuring some serious eye candy! Wow!
Confessional #25814405: TikTok has shown me that my husband might be even less helpful than I thought.
Confessional #25809161: I spent hours scrolling through TikTok! My pandemic burnout is real, especially with my mom living with us.
Confessional #25773051: At 32, I absolutely adore TikTok!
Confessional #25772159: My kid asked for TikTok, so I downloaded it to check it out first. The amount of handsome guys dancing and flirting is unreal!
Confessional #25769113: I’m in my 40s, yet I watch more TikToks than my teenager. How embarrassing!
Confessional #25818126: TikTok is making me question my sexuality.
Confessional #25813191: I watched several compilations of partners’ reactions when their SOs walk in naked. Mine was less than impressed!
Confessional #25793725: I think it’s odd when dads do TikTok dances with their daughters.
Confessional #25791423: If TikTok vanished, I wouldn’t miss seeing my teen do robot dances.

TikTok can pull you in like a wave, offering a glimpse into others’ lives that can feel both comforting and isolating.

Confessional #25766978: I love the videos of trans individuals revealing their names with the song “I Don’t Know My Name.” It gives me chills!
Confessional #25819686: I cringe when family sends me TikToks about parenting struggles. They don’t seem to get how tone-deaf that can be for me with a child on the spectrum.
Confessional #25775937: I’m tired of watching pristine homes in TikTok videos when my house is a constant mess due to the kids.
Confessional #25769167: I adore videos of dads showing affection towards their grown sons! Let’s break down toxic masculinity!
Confessional #25768884: I’m hooked on watching those “bully picked the wrong guy” and “karmic justice” clips. It’s satisfying to see bullies get their comeuppance.
Confessional #25768617: My husband claims I’m always on my phone. What about him, watching loud TikTok videos?
Confessional #25765377: My sister posts endless videos of her home and does a Kim K impression while doing it. It’s cringe-worthy!
Confessional #25750508: I can’t stop watching pimple-popping videos. It’s a weird fascination!
Confessional #25747803: Of all the nonsense on social media, adult prank videos for likes make me roll my eyes the most.

For many moms, TikTok serves as an escape or a way to discover tips to enhance their lives. A word of advice: let’s not criticize younger generations for thinking we’re “uncool.” You’re not meant to be cool in their eyes. Just be yourself and enjoy the platform!

And here’s to TikTok!
