If you’ve been eagerly awaiting the day when ‘The Nanny’ would be available on a streaming service, that moment has finally arrived! Fran Fine is making her grand entrance on HBO Max, and it’s safe to say that every millennial is ecstatic. Get ready to binge-watch with Fran, Mr. Sheffield, Niles, Cece, Sylvia, Yeta, and the Sheffield kids starting April 1.

For those who may need a little reminder (how dare you forget?), ‘The Nanny’ aired from 1993 to 1999. Fran Drescher played the iconic role of Fran Fine, a bridal salesgirl turned unexpected nanny who brought her unique flair, humor, and that unforgettable laugh to the Sheffield household after the loss of their mother. The delightful slow-burn romance between Fran and her boss added a layer of charm, complemented by a stellar supporting cast including Niles, Cece, and the Sheffield children.

Fran Drescher herself shared the exciting news on Instagram, radiating joy in her announcement: “We’re coming to HBOMAX WooHoo!!! 4/1/21 GO!” Back in April 2020, she revealed to E! News that she believes Fran and Max would still be happily married today, with Fran possibly pursuing a career in either fashion or local politics. “I think Fran would have gotten involved in a fashion blog on how to look like a million bucks on a shoestring budget,” she shared.

In even more thrilling news, Drescher is currently working on adapting ‘The Nanny’ into a Broadway musical with the help of her ex-husband and co-creator Peter Marc Jacobson, along with Rachel Bloom of ‘Crazy Ex-Girlfriend’ fame. As a nod to the show’s roots, the storyline will involve Mr. Sheffield, a Broadway producer, returning to New York with Fran.

In a year filled with challenges, ‘The Nanny’ offers a nostalgic escape, and the upcoming Broadway show is something to eagerly anticipate. Until then, we can’t wait to stream the original series. As the theme song notes, “Who would have guessed that the girl we described was just exactly what the doctor prescribed?”
